Variables in an API are the dynamic values that can be pulled from various sources from the path form. They help in defining the nature and purpose of the request that is made. A response variable field corresponds to the path in the response request.

Steps to Add a Variable

Follow the steps to add a Variable:

  1. In the Request tab, click the Variable tab.
    The Variable tab appears.
  2. Click the icon.
    The Parameter Editor pop-up window appears.
  3. The Type is already selected. 
  4. Specify the Name of the variable you have selected.

  5. To add values in the Value textbox, click the Insert Dynamic Parameter button or specify the values in the textbox.

  6. Click the Add button.
    The details are added to the Variable tab.
