Importing a Contact File

The Contacts manager allows you to import new contacts into Contacts manager. To import a file of contacts click the Import button at the bottom-right of the Contacts manager. 



This brings up the Import Contacts screen. This screen presents the following fields and buttons:

  • File - Allows you to import new contacts. Click the upload icon, this will allow you to navigate to the file within your local directory. Select your file and click Open .
  • File Format - Allows you to select a file format from the available list of formats for contact imports previously defined in the input filter section.  For more information on defining file formats, creating input filter layouts to be used for Contacts manager imports see Creating an Input Filter section.
  • Configure Custom Format - Allows you specify the filter format for the contact import file to be uploaded.



Additional columns and file formats can be specified by selecting the Configure Custom Format. This opens the Contact columns screen.



This screen presents the following fields and buttons:

  • Header in file? - Allows you to choose and include header in the imported file if checked.
  • Filer Format - Define the required upload file format. The File Format field allows you to use multiple import formats.
  • Allow Empty? - Allows empty values on contact fields
  • Truncate? - Allows truncate contact field values if the field length exceeds the size limit.
  • Add - Allows you to map additional columns.
  • Delete - Allows you the delete the columns that are not required.
  • Save As Input - Allows you to save your selection as a filter within Input Filter.
  • Ok - Click Ok to save the changes.
  • Cancel - Click Cancel to discard the changes.


  • When customizing the import file, the Account contact field is mandatory. 
  • Configure Custom Format button allows you to configure custom format and contact columns mapping for Import process. You can save and utilize the filter again, if required.


Click Ok to return to the main screen. From the main screen, click the Import button to finish uploading your file.


Exporting A Contact File

The Contacts manager allows you to export contacts. To export the file click Export.



This brings up the Export Contacts screen which presents you with the following fields and buttons:

  • Filter Name - Displays the Filter name selected under search drop down of contact editor.
  •  Adjust Export Columns - Allows you specify the format for the contact file to be export.

 
 


Additional columns can be specified by selecting the Adjust Export Columns. This opens the Contact columns screen.



 

This screen presents the following fields and buttons: 

  • Header in file? - Allows you to choose and include header in the imported file if checked.
  • Filer Format - Define the required export file format.
  • Add - Allows you to map additional columns.
  • Delete - Allows you the delete the columns that are not required.
  • Ok - Click Ok to save the changes.
  • Cancel - Click Cancel to discard the changes.

From the main screen, click the Export button to finish exporting your file. The Contacts manager allows you to export contacts to a file.
