The Import/Export Jobs tab enables you to create multiple import and export jobs for importing contacts from a file into Contact Manager or exporting contacts from Contact Manager to a file. It also provides you with a central view of all jobs.
Creating a Contact Import Job
To create a contact import job:
- In Contact Manager, on the Import/Export Jobs tab, click Add.
The Jobs window appears. - In the Job Type field, select Contact Import.
- On the General tab, specify values in the following fields:
- File Name Pattern: Enter the name pattern for the contact import file. The name pattern minimizes the number of import jobs when the files that you want to import use the same format but different file naming conventions.
The value in the field must include the file extension and the field is not case sensitive.
This field accepts wildcards. For example, if the actual name of a file is ExampleCampaign01012020.txt, the accepted wildcard filename patterns are:- *Campaign01012020.txt
- ExampleCampaign*.txt
- *Campaign*.txt
- Enabled: Select the checkbox to enable the automated import job.
- File Format: Select the format in which you want the contacts to be imported.
Email List: Enter single or multiple email addresses to which you want email notifications for each import attempt.
The Description field displays a description of the process. The files to be imported must be placed in the -Coll/contactimport path.
- You can define different file formats and configure the mapping for the contact columns by using Configure Custom Format.
- You can save the format to an input filter by using Save As Input.

- File Name Pattern: Enter the name pattern for the contact import file. The name pattern minimizes the number of import jobs when the files that you want to import use the same format but different file naming conventions.
- In the Jobs window, click Ok.
- On the Import/Export Jobs tab, click Save.
You can create up to six contact import jobs at the same time.
Creating a Contact Export Job
To create a contact export job:
- In Contact Manager, on the Import/Export Jobs tab, click Add.
The Jobs window appears. - In the Job Type field, select Contact Export.
- On the General tab, specify values in the following fields:
- File Name: Enter the name of the file to which you want to export contacts from Contact Manager.
- Enabled: Select the checkbox to enable the automated export job.
- Filter: Select the filter based on which you want to export the contacts.
Email List: Enter single or multiple email addresses to which you want email notifications for each export attempt.
- Export Path: Enter the custom export directory path on the SFTP server to store all the exported files. The default value is /ftpOut.
The Description field displays a description of the process. The files generated in this process are placed in the ftpOut folder.
You can define different file formats and configure the mapping for the contact columns by using Configure Custom Format.
- In the Schedules section, click Add.
The Schedule window appears. - Specify values in the following fields, and then click Ok:
- Days: Select the days for which you want to schedule the export job.
- Start Time: Select the start time of the job, in hours and minutes.
- Timezone: Select the time zone to schedule the job.
- In the Jobs window, click Ok.
- On the Import/Export Jobs tab, click Save.
Viewing Contact Import or Export Job History
To view the history of an import or export job:
- In Contact Manager, on the Import/Export Jobs tab, double-click the row displaying the job.
The Jobs window appears. - Click the Job History tab.
The following information appears:- Start Time: Start time of the job.
- End Time: End time of the job.
- Duration (in secs): Duration of the job, in seconds.
- Status: Completion or failure status of the job.
- Message: Details of the email notifications sent for the job.
Deleting a Contact Import or Export Job
To delete a contact import or export job, in Contact Manager, on the Import/Export Jobs tab, select the row displaying the job, and then use Delete.
